House Painting in Tirupati: Compare the Quote Before You Compare the Price
One painter quotes for a quick repaint. Another includes scraping, repairs and ceilings. The totals look different because the jobs are different. A clear written scope helps you choose without discovering the missing work halfway through.

Start with the walls, not the colour card
Walk through each room and note peeling areas, stains, visible cracks and damp patches. Photograph the problem areas and tell the painter whether the room is occupied. A sound wall needing a colour refresh is a different job from a damaged wall needing repairs.
If there is recurring dampness, identify and address its cause before repainting. A new finish alone does not resolve an active leak. Ask what needs a separate repair assessment and what must be completed before the painting work can begin.
Make sure both quotes measure the same thing
Ask whether the quotation uses paintable wall area, floor area or a defined room package. These are not interchangeable. For illustration, a room measuring 10 by 12 feet has 120 square feet of floor area; that number is not its wall-painting area.
Have the quote identify rooms, ceilings, balconies, doors, frames and grills separately where relevant. Confirm how openings and unusually high areas are treated. A per-square-foot rate is useful only after its measurement basis is clear.
Ask for the preparation work in writing
Surface preparation, putty and primer serve different purposes. Ask which areas need loose paint removed, local repairs, levelling or priming, and why. Follow the selected paint system's instructions for preparation, coat sequence and drying intervals; one recipe does not suit every wall.
Ask whether the quote allows for local patch work or full-wall preparation. If inspection reveals additional damage, agree on how the revised scope and price will be approved before that extra work starts.
A brand name is not a complete paint specification
Record the brand, product range, finish and shade for each area, plus the agreed number of coats and any primer or undercoat. 'Premium paint included' leaves too much open to interpretation.
If you are choosing a washable finish, ask what cleaning instructions apply after the paint has cured. Test a shade on the actual wall and view it in daylight and under the room's lights before approving the full room. Confirm how any change after approval would be charged.
Separate materials, labour and the awkward extras
Confirm whether the total covers labour and materials or labour only. Ask about furniture protection, masking, access equipment, moving heavy items, debris removal and the final tidy-up. Do not assume a painting cleanup includes full home deep cleaning.
For a lived-in home, agree which room will be worked on first and what needs to be cleared each day. Ask for a realistic schedule that allows the specified drying intervals instead of treating the fastest completion promise as the best offer.
Use the quote as your handover checklist
Before approval, keep a written record of the scope, total, exclusions, planned dates and payment stages. If a workmanship warranty is offered, ask who provides it, what it covers and what conditions apply. Brand product claims and the painter's workmanship promise should be explained separately.
At handover, compare the completed areas with the quote. Check edges, missed patches, visible splashes and any agreed repair areas with the professional. Record outstanding items and the agreed next step while everyone can still see the work.
What to send when requesting a TaskTigers painting assessment
Share your address, the rooms or surfaces involved, whether the home is occupied, and photos of any damage. Say whether you need a simple repaint, a larger colour change or repair work assessed first.
Check the painting option's scope before booking. An assessment or consultation price should not be read as the price to paint the whole home. Approve the measured work and any additional charges before painting starts.
Questions customers ask
Can I estimate painting cost from my home's floor area?
It can help describe the home, but it is not a substitute for a clearly defined measurement or package. Ask which surfaces and preparation work the quote includes.
Does every repaint need full putty work?
The required preparation depends on the existing surface and selected paint system. Ask the professional to explain any full-wall treatment rather than assuming it is always necessary.
Should I book deep cleaning before painting?
Clear the work areas and complete the preparation the painter requests first. Schedule the final home cleaning after dusty work is finished, with fresh paint protected and any surface cleaning allowed by the paint instructions.
Is a painting consultation the same as booking the full job?
Check the selected service description. A consultation or inspection can establish the measurements and quote; it does not automatically include the full painting work.
