Painting, Deep Cleaning or Sofa Cleaning First? A Plan Before Guests Arrive
You book a deep clean, then a painter sands the wall and dust settles across the room again. Before a festival, family visit or housewarming, the order of work can matter as much as the services you choose.

Choose the jobs that will make a visible difference
Walk through the home as a guest would: entrance, seating area, bathroom and the room where people will eat. Write down the actual problem in each space. Dusty shelves need a different service from peeling paint or stained upholstery.
Choose work around those problems rather than booking every available add-on. A focused bathroom clean and sofa clean may fit your plans better than a whole-home package. If you want a full clean, identify any special work that needs a separate selection.
First: inspection, repairs and dusty work
Arrange assessments early enough to agree on the work. Finish jobs such as drilling, sanding and repairs before the final home clean. Ask each professional what must be cleared or protected and whether their work affects another planned service.
If a wall needs painting, agree on the surface preparation, drying intervals and room handover first. Avoid stacking appointments on a timetable that depends on every job finishing at its earliest estimate.
Next: the agreed home-cleaning scope
Once dusty work is complete, arrange the cleaning you actually need. Confirm rooms, bathrooms, kitchen areas, accessible windows and cupboard interiors separately. Tell the provider about fresh paint so they can avoid treating newly painted surfaces as washable walls.
Keep post-work residue in the discussion. Paint splashes, cement, adhesive and debris should not be assumed to fall within regular home cleaning. Send photos and ask whether a different scope or separate quote is needed.
Plan sofa cleaning around access and drying
Coordinate upholstery work with the room-cleaning team so the sofa will not collect dust from later work or block access while damp. If one provider handles both services, ask them to propose the sequence for your rooms. Otherwise, tell both teams about the other booking.
Confirm a suitable method from the sofa's care instructions and ask for a drying estimate. Leave a buffer before guests need the seating. A sofa that looks ready can still need more drying time; follow the professional's advice before replacing throws or cushions.
Prepare the rooms so the booked time is useful
Clear countertops, put away valuables and decide which cupboards will be emptied. Arrange access, parking and any building permissions. Confirm the power, water or other facilities the professional needs rather than discovering a problem at the door.
Ask who will move furniture and what cannot safely be moved. Keep a contact available to approve genuine scope questions, and require any extra work and price to be agreed before it starts.
Leave the last slot for checks, not another major job
Review each service against its agreed scope while the professional is present. Point out missed accessible areas and record anything that needs a follow-up. Keep payment and completion records together with the booking.
Before guests arrive, aim for simple finishing tasks: arranging the room, replacing clean linen and checking that treated furniture is ready to use. Major work booked for the last available hour leaves little room for drying, access delays or corrections.
Questions customers ask
Can painting and deep cleaning happen on the same day?
It depends on the areas, scope and paint instructions. Coordinate with both professionals; avoid final cleaning in an area where sanding or other dusty work is still happening.
Does home deep cleaning include sofa shampooing?
Check the selected package. Upholstery treatment is a separate scope unless the booking explicitly includes it.
Should I book every service the day before a festival?
Leave enough time for the agreed work, drying and any corrections. Choose dates based on the actual service plan rather than relying on a universal one-day turnaround.
