Sofa Cleaning: What Changes the Price and What to Ask Before Booking

The tea mark is obvious. The harder questions are whether your sofa can be wet-cleaned, whether the quote includes its cushions, and when you can sit on it again. Answer those before choosing a cleaning package.

Send three photos before asking for a price

Send a full view of the sofa, a close-up of any important stain, and a photo of the manufacturer's care label if you can find it. Include the seating layout: a three-seater plus two chairs is different from a corner sofa with a chaise.

Mention loose cushions, recliners and previous cleaning attempts. A provider who sees the actual furniture can give a more useful answer than one working from 'one sofa'. Keep people, documents and other private details out of the photos.

What changes a sofa-cleaning quote?

Compare seating scope, upholstery material, cushions and the proposed treatment. Ask how a chaise or recliner is counted, whether both sides of removable cushions are included, and whether the quoted amount covers the whole set.

Check whether there is a minimum visit charge, a separate stain-treatment charge or any other addition to the displayed price. Two quotes are comparable only when they cover the same furniture and work.

For TaskTigers, check the current service options and the amount shown for your address. Share unusual materials or heavy staining before confirming; availability and the final agreed scope must be checked for the actual booking.

Read the care label before choosing a method

Some sofas carry cleaning codes. W indicates a permitted water-based upholstery cleaner; S indicates an appropriate solvent cleaner; W/S or S/W permits the specified options; X means vacuuming or light brushing only. Follow the manufacturer's full instructions, not just a fabric name.

'Microfiber' or 'velvet' alone does not identify a safe treatment. Ask the professional to check the label and test a hidden area. Missing labels, delicate trims or uncertain colourfastness are reasons to assess the sofa before promising a full wet clean.

Leather and imitation leather also need their own care instructions. Ask whether the proposed product is suitable for that finish rather than accepting a fabric-shampoo treatment for every sofa.

Ask what 'shampoo', 'steam' or 'dry cleaning' actually includes

Service names are shorthand. Ask the provider what will be applied, how it will be removed, and why that process suits your upholstery. Confirm whether the work covers seats, arms, backrests and loose cushions.

Agree on the important stains before work starts. Cleaning may improve an old mark without removing it completely. Fading, worn fabric and damaged upholstery are not the same as removable dirt; a promise to make every sofa look new is not a useful basis for booking.

Plan drying before you plan guests

Ask for a drying estimate for your sofa and the conditions in your room. Do not assume one fixed number of hours applies to every material, cushion thickness or day. Arrange the ventilation recommended by the professional and keep the sofa out of use until it is fully dry.

Leave time between cleaning and a gathering. Ask when cushions can be put back and throws can be replaced. If the sofa remains damp longer than advised or develops a musty smell, contact the provider instead of covering it up.

A message you can send before booking

'I have a three-seater and two armchairs, with four loose cushions. Here are the sofa, stain and care-label photos. Please confirm the suitable method, included areas, expected drying time and total price, including any visit or extra-treatment charges.'

That short message gives the provider something concrete to assess. Keep the agreed scope with the booking so you can check the completed work against it.

Questions customers ask

How much does sofa cleaning cost in Tirupati?

Check the current TaskTigers options for your address and seating scope. Material, cushions and any separately agreed treatment affect the comparison; a generic per-seat figure may not describe your booking.

Does microfiber always need dry cleaning?

No single method fits every microfiber sofa. Follow the manufacturer's care label and have the professional assess and test the proposed treatment.

Will every stain disappear?

No. Identify important marks before cleaning and ask what improvement is realistic. Cleaning cannot reverse worn fabric or colour loss.

Can sofa cleaning be added to home cleaning?

Ask whether it is available as a separate selected service for your address. Do not assume upholstery cleaning is included in a general home-cleaning package.
